Lighting the Path - Hostel and Education for Slum Children
Millions of children living in urban slum communities across the country face insurmountable barriers to receiving a quality education due to poverty, lack of resources, and unstable living conditions. Lighting the Path aims to provide these underprivileged children a stable home environment and access to basic education through a residential hostel program.

Program Details
Lighting the Path will rent a property to establish a hostel for up to 20 children from slum areas in the city. The rented space will include:
Dormitory rooms separated by age/gender
Basic classroom spaces
Kitchen and dining area
Counseling room
Outdoor play area
Funding Requirements:
With a budget of Rs. 5 lakhs for the first year, the costs will include:
Rental property
Staff salaries
Educational supplies and materials
Nutritious meals and kitchen supplies
Basic facilities and utilities
Healthcare services
End result
In the first year, we aim to provide 20 underprivileged children with a safe home, nutritious meals, basic healthcare, counseling support, and foundational education.This will prepare them to continue into higher education and eventually access employment opportunities that can lift them out of the cycle of poverty.
